The Smell of Tangerines, a 25 minute long piece, presented a juxtaposition of images that came from the collective experience of the performers and Mariangela’s own memories of living in Venezuela as a child and teenager.
Music by Les Maledictus Sound, Stina Nodernstand, Yoshimori Sunahara, Janette and Marima Nandayapa . The performers were a group of friends and people that were interested in being part of a creative experience, some of them professional dancers and actors and others designers, musicians, mathematicians and more. Vanessa Arce, Monica Brand, Nathalie Broizat, Devlin Goldberg, Juancho Herrera, Dan Kendall, Anthony Lanni, Tanya Mamedalin, Adam Mugavero, Jeff Prout, Clemence Tailandier, Kimiko Takeichi and Irene Ziglina.
The Smell of Tangerines was premiered in 2002 at the Williamsburg Art Nexus, Brooklyn, NYC. Later, in 2003 the piece was invited to be part of the Not Festival Project presented by Out of Space/ Global Exchange, Danspace Project at the Teatro Clemente Soto Velez in NYC and The Movement Research Performance Series at The Judson Church.
